Depart Fes in the morning and head south, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, a picturesque village with chalet-style houses and clean streets, nicknamed “the Switzerland of Morocco.” Continue to Azrou, famous for its cedar forests and playful Barbary macaques. The road passes through Midelt, known for its apple orchards, and then descends into the dramatic Ziz Valley, with palm groves and rocky gorges. After crossing the Tizi n’Talghamt pass, the landscape changes as you enter the desert. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon, where the golden dunes of the Sahara rise up. Dinner and overnight stay near the dunes.

Day 2: Exploration of the Merzouga Desert – Khamlia – Nomadic Encounters – Fossil Sites

Start the day with a sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the varied desert landscapes in a 4×4: volcanic plateaus, dry river beds, and ancient fossil sites. Visit Khamlia, a small village famous for its Gnawa music. Then, meet a nomadic family and learn about their lifestyle and traditions. Return to Merzouga or Hassi Labied for lunch and a stroll along the irrigation canals that sustain the desert gardens. In the afternoon, set off on a camel ride through Erg Chebbi to a camp in the dunes. Enjoy dinner, music, and stargazing by the campfire at sunset.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast, return by camel to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting for you. Continue the journey to Erfoud, famous for its fossils, with a stop in Tinejdad for lunch. In the afternoon, arrive at the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with imposing cliffs and a crystal-clear river running between them. End the day in the Dades Valley, known for its kasbahs, palm groves, and winding roads. Dinner and overnight stay at a local hotel surrounded by dramatic rock formations.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Travel through the fragrant Valley of Roses, where fields bloom every spring and villagers produce rose water. Continue on to Skoura, with its palm groves and ancient kasbahs.
