02 Day : Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fez

We set off for the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its stunning mosaics and archaeological remains. We continued on to the imperial city of Meknes, where we admired monuments such as the Bab Mansour Gate and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. We arrived in Fez at sunset and checked into a traditional riad.

03 Day: Fez — Guided tour of the Imperial City

A full day exploring Fez with a specialist local guide. We start at the gates of the Royal Palace and venture into the largest and best-preserved medina in the Arab world. We’ll visit Al-Qarawiyyin University — the oldest university in the world still in operation — the medieval madrasas, the famous Chouara tanneries and the artisan quarters. We’ll explore the bustling souks and hidden courtyards before returning to the riad. Overnight in Fez.

04 Day: Fez → Ifrane → Azrou → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

We travelled south through the Middle Atlas. We passed through Ifrane, nicknamed the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ for its chalets and snow-covered gardens in winter, and through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to the Barbary macaque. We crossed the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley before reaching the gateway to the Sahara at Merzouga. Overnight stay in a kasbah by the dunes.

A morning of desert exploration in a 4×4: we visit nomadic families and seasonal oases that offer a glimpse into authentic life in the Sahara. At dusk, we ride camels up the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch a sunset straight out of a film. We arrive at the Berber camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits us, accompanied by live music beneath an endless starry sky. Overnight in the desert.

06 Day: Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley

We visited the bustling market in Rissani before continuing on to Erfoud, known for its fossil sites. We arrived at the spectacular Todra Gorges, where we walked amongst stone walls rising over 300 metres high. In the afternoon, we headed to the lush Dades Valley, dotted with fortified kasbahs and almond orchards. Overnight stay in a charming local accommodation.

07 Day : Dadès Valley → Valley of the Roses → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech

We travel along the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the fragrant Valley of the Roses and the oasis of Skoura. We visit Aït Ben Haddou, a mud-brick village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting for productions such as Gladiator o Game of Thrones. We crossed the breathtaking Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains and descended into vibrant Marrakech. Night in Marrakech.

08 Day: Marrakech — Guided tour of the Ochre City

We explore Marrakech’s major landmarks with a local guide: the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the Majorelle Garden — a masterpiece of colour and botany. We immerse ourselves in the unique atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna Square and wander through the souks, brimming with spices, fabrics and handicrafts. Free afternoon to explore the city at your leisure. Night in Marrakech.

09 Day : Marrakech → Argan trees → Essaouira

We set off for Essaouira, a laid-back coastal town on the shores of the Atlantic. On the way, we spotted goats perched in the argan trees — a sight unique in the world — and visited a women’s cooperative producing argan oil. In Essaouira, we explored its fishing harbour, the walled medina and its ramps overlooking the ocean. Dinner of fresh fish straight from the fish market. An evening by the sea.

We follow the picturesque Atlantic coastline northwards. We stop off at Oualidia, famous for its lagoon and oysters, which is ideal for a peaceful break. We continue on to El Jadida to admire the Portuguese cistern and the colonial architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. We arrive in Casablanca at sunset and check into our hotel. Overnight in Casablanca.

We begin the day with a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world, whose 200-metre minaret juts out over the sea. We then travel to Rabat, the kingdom’s elegant capital. We explore the Royal Palace, the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the old medina. We enjoyed a peaceful evening in this city with its refined atmosphere. Overnight in Rabat.

12 Day: Rabat → Tangier — End of the tour

After breakfast, we set off on our return journey to Tangier, taking in the scenery of northern Morocco. On arrival, we’ll take you to the port, airport or accommodation of your choice. This brings to an end this unique tour of one of the most fascinating countries in the world. See you soon, Morocco!
